We're super excited about Love Come Down at The Arch in Cambridge Heath tonight, and what's even better is that today is also Record Store Day 2016.

In their own words, RSD is "the one day of the year when over 200 independent record shops all across the UK come together to celebrate their unique culture. Special vinyl releases are made exclusively for the day and many shops and cities host artist performances and events to mark the occasion."

Thankfully, that included in the vinyl releases is a host of great disco records perfect for playing at Love Come Down. Here's a rundown of our 5 favourites, and don't forget that if you want to join us TONIGHT to hear tracks like these, tickets are available here via RA or Billetto.

5. Loose Joints 'Is It All Over My Face' (Masters At Work Remix)

This legendary Arthur Russell track made famous by Larry Levan got a 2001 remix from Masters At Work - what a combination! The MAW boys wisely stay close to the original, beefing it up and extending it slightly. This remix features on an RSD '16 release which collects all 3 (!) of Loose Joints' singles, more info here.

4. Larry Levan 'Genius Of Time' Compilation

More Larry related stuff here, as there's a special 12" RSD '16 release that collects 4 tracks from the new 'Genius Of Time' compilation. The full compilation (out now, highly regarded by Pitchfork) is a selection of the great man's best production work, and one of our favourites of his also happens to feature on the vinyl release - Syreeta's 'Can't Shake Your Love' (Larry Levan Remix). "Oh sugar!"

3. Alicia Meyers 'Right Here, Right Now (Hallelujah Anyway)' (John Morales M&M Remix)

A smooth release here from Alicia Meyers that features a remix from one of the most coveted disco producers ever - the great John Morales. The track itself borrows heavily from Gladys Knight's 'Taste Of Bitter Love' at points, which makes it perfect for that late afternoon/early evening vibe. Not entirely sure whether this is the exact version that'll be on the 12" - which is one of the wonders of RSD, some of these tracks aren't available online at all yet!

4. Joey Negro 'Remixed With Love Vol.2' - Unreleased Outtakes

Talking of tracks we haven't heard yet, this release features 3 tracks that are as yet unreleased but are sure to be of the highest quality. 'Remixed With Love Vol.2' is one of our favourite releases of 2016, and this special RSD 12" collects 3 outtakes that didn't make the cut for the full release. I don't think that'll mean the quality will be compromised, though! In the meantime, here's one of our favourite tracks from the full release.

5. Late Nite Tuff Guy 'Tuff Cuts Vol. 10'

Here's our favourite release of RSD '16, and it's a real corker from edit master Late Nite Tuff Guy. This special RSD release collects 4 of his best reworks, including his most famous 'One Nite In A Disco'. It also contains the rework that the man himself has said is his favourite from his (large!) back catalogue - a Change edit called 'Hold Tite'. Check it out below, and join us at The Arch Gallery tonight to hear it and many many more like it!
